RESEARCH SHOWS "IN THE KNOW" GETS RESULTS!

The "No Child Left Behind" Act requires research-based scientific evidence that school programs are effective. You can safely answer "yes" to that criterion with Syndistar's "In the Know" substance abuse prevention product.

An independent study conducted by the University of New Orleans (UNO) Department of Psychology and the Safe and Drug Free School Program of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana indicated substantial -- even dramatic -- changes in students' knowledge and expectancies about drugs and alcohol.

The premise of the "In the Know" series follows the fundamental tenet that "Knowledge equals Power." The U.S. Government's annual Monitoring the Future surveys of 8th, 10th, and 12th graders substantiate this approach by showing a correspondence between a rise in "perceived risk" about drugs and alcohol with a decline in use. Simply put: The more you know about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, the less likely you are to use them.

With that in mind, we are pleased to announce that the UNO study found "In the Know" increased students' knowledge about drugs and alcohol by 50-100%! This remarkable improvement resulted in "statistically significant" changes in positive and negative expectancies held by the students prior to viewing the "In the Know" materials.

The "In The Know" substance abuse prevention series consists of five videotapes or DVDs with guides for stimulating discussion, 16 pamphlets covering drug and alcohol topics in-depth, a free interactive Web site, and reproducible pre- and post-tests to measure the performance of your own program.
