Treatment and Cure

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease that can be treated with antibiotics prescribed by a doctor. Syphilis is usually treated with penicillin. Syphilis should be treated as soon as diagnosed because it can cause severe consequences.

Although syphilis can be easily treated, many persons might go undiagnosed for a long time. Treatment will stop the syphilis infection almost immediately. However, any previous effects on the body due to the infection will probably not be able to be changed.

Persons with syphilis should be tested again after treatment to find out if they are completely cured. Syphilis can be treated at any stage. But, the damage to the body already done by syphilis cannot be reversed.
