Symptoms

In general, adults show more signs or symptoms of hepatitis infection. Common symptoms of hepatitis are jaundice (yellowing of white of the eyes and skin) and fatigue (tiredness). However, signs or symptoms also vary according to the type of hepatitis virus.

Hepatitis A

Specific symptoms associated with hepatitis A infection are:

  • Jaundice
  • Fatigue (tiredness)
  • Abdominal (belly) pain
  • Loss of appetite (not hungry)
  • Nausea (queasiness)
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever

Hepatitis B

Specific symptoms associated with hepatitis B infection are:

  • Jaundice
  • Fatigue (tiredness)
  • Abdominal (belly) pain
  • Loss of appetite (not hungry)
  • Nausea (queasiness)
  • Vomiting
  • Joint pain


Hepatitis C

Specific symptoms associated with hepatitis C infection are:

  • Dark urine
